Open Source has demonstrated the massive benefit of removing barriers to studying, using, modifying, and sharing software. We need to expand these essential freedoms to artificial intelligence as well, to ensure AI systems are accessible, reliable, and transparent. This is the goal of the Open Source Initiative's Open Source AI Definition.
